I have to report that on this first "Self Talk Saturday" I am oh so guilty of believing a lie, of putting my eyes back on the circumstances and allowing discouragement among other things to crowd my thoughts and speech. My desire is that I will learn from this day to completely trust in God. To lean on His Spirit before mine gives out. To cry out for His grace, and grab it as soon as it is offered.
I believe that things unseen does not mean they are not there.
I believe that small faith is honored when there is obedience in the daily grind.
I believe that God sends encouragement to keep me strong.
I believe that God certainly has a plan for me! My future is in His capable hands, and I surrender it to Him.
Romans 15:13 "May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in Him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit."
"...whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable – if anything is excellent or praiseworthy – think about such things." Philippians 4:8

Let's Start at the Very Beginning...
This is the day I look at my goals and organization. What am I doing to move forward? What needs more work? Where can I improve?
On this very first of Focused Fridays, I am happy to report that I started this blog to record my progress of focus throughout the next year. There are many areas that need work in my life, but I'm taking baby steps and look forward to the journey!

Hello. I am not quite sure who will find this blog, but I wanted to send out a greeting just in case there is someone on the other side of a screen somewhere who has ventured to click into my little corner of cyberspace.
The purpose of this particular blog is to enable me to think on Philippians 4:8...what is good, just, pure, lovely, of good report, worthy, true... these are the things that I want to focus on, to reach the end result of bringing glory to God with my everyday life.
Each day of the week will have a specific focus area which may or may not be posted each week on a regular basis. It is my goal for this blog to become a record of my days, to help me as I positively focus on different areas of life.
The address for this blog is based on the book "The 4:8 Principle" written by Tommy Newberry. Although I have not yet finished reading this fine book, it is full of great wisdom based on Philippians 4:8. I hope to focus on the good in my life and share some encouragement along the way.

2010 - My Year of Focus
My, this is a strange place...have I been here before? Oh yes, I used to post here, many months ago!
Time to get life moving. Funny how aware, yet unaware of it I have been lately.
2010 holds promise for me. I am taking a year long "class" from ilivethesource.com that focuses on one area of life each month, and hope to grow in many ways over the next year. Already I have learned new techniques for tough spots. The hard part is remembering to use them! I did have a moment of joy though after using pros and cons in a situation of my own, to be able to share that with Miss A for her own tough spot. The next morning she then shared the information with Mr E to help him get his day started in a better way.
Right now I am looking at packing up the bags and boxes for another move back into town. This causes stress to think about, but there is nothing I can do to change this. It is out of my control. Perhaps that is why I am here in NZ. To learn to totally give up control. I am certainly gaining a new perspective on flexibility.
School is moving along for the children. I am becoming dissatisfied with Saxon Math. The farther along Miss A gets, the more chopped up the lessons seem and I am wondering if it is just this book (65) or does this happen in subsequent books also?
There are many things that we need to get out and about to see here in Wellington before our time here is finished. Not knowing when that will be, I have decided to put a rush on getting out and about more just in case we are headed off of this island anytime soon... and if not, then we will have more time to explore other things. First up is the Colonial Cottage here in our neighborhood. Then perhaps a trip to the zoo.
I hope to post on a more regular basis, to keep things fresh and give us a record of what we have done, especially now that we have a new year to fill up!

A Lovely Day
Today's Wednesday, Today's Wednesday. Wednesday's Roasted Beef, Tuesday's Soup, Monday's A Washing Day, Is everybody happy? Is everybody happy? You bet'chur life we are!
Lots to update on. Sewing machine...check. Found a used Bernette at the pawn shop. It works well, but not good for free motion quilting. New place to live...almost check. We move to a 3 bedroom house on Nov. 5th.
School is going well for the kids. Miss A. is almost finished with the Saxon 54 math book, and I have promised her a crepe of her choice upon completion. Mr. E has started the 54 book and moving right along.
The weather here has been very windy lately. Warm temperatures get mixed with rain and cold, so there is no steady "Spring" so to speak as of yet, although everyone is looking forward to warmer days.
Still hunting for a church. I think I've found one in the new neighborhood and we will visit it this Sunday.
Missing family and friends (a whole lot - says Miss A.) and always on the lookout for a friendly face here in Wellington. Thankful for the internet to keep us connected.
